Findings and  Supplies

From a variety of beads to findings and components.
So now you ask, "What exactly are findings and jewelry components and where can I find them?
Don't make the same mistake I have. Buying cheap beads, etc. is not always the best deal. They may be okay to practice with, but if you plan to sell your pieces, make it from good quality products.

I classify "finding" as the non-beaded parts that make up a piece of jewelry. It was holds everything together in the place you want it.

Here are some examples of findings:
Components would be more like a pendant or focal point, a necklace for instance. Jump rings, clasps, earring parts, head pins, eye pins, bails, bead caps, crimp beads and all kinds of metal.

With Beads, it all depends on what you want to create. Some of the best buys on quality beads are bought in bulk.
However, I would not suggest doing this if you are still learning the craft and are not sure what will work for you or what you may prefer as yet.
You may want to stick with semi-precious beads, faux pearls instead of real pearls at this point. Swar ovskiŽ Crystal Beads are my favorite beads to work with. The quality is undeniably and people who know anything about jewelry knows this is always excellent quality. And their faux pearls are the best as well. I use these for most wedding jewelry and top of the line jewelry. This looks and feels like the real thing with a fraction of the cost. The parents of the Bride love this feature!

Almost any supplier carries, SwarovskiŽ Beads and other compariable beads and components. Since I classify my jewelry art as "Bridge" jewelry, I use sterling silver and gold-filled findings , components, chains and wire with semi-precious beads.

Start developing relationships with these online jewelry suppliers, and you'll eventually fall into your own set of suppliers that suit your needs. I do 90% of my shopping on line and have my favorite suppliers as you will too.
